uni-everything

Look at this picture! It looks like a picture from WW2 time… Everyone the same clothes, the same face, the same message, the same idea. If you are out of it, you are considered to be an anti-Jp citizen and you are accused.

This is a picture of the welcoming ceremony for new employees. These people were not forced to wear the same clothes, but they do. Why? Because of the famous proverb: “The nail that sticks out gets hammered down (出る杭は打たれる)”. How nice.

I guess this is a part of initiation to the Japanese society for adults. After all the preparation to NOT be militant, critical of the society, finally you are accepted as its member. Wear what everyone else wears, think how everyone else thinks, stay in the nice circle called “wa (和)” (=circle, peace), and promote the peace, not the peace that can be obtained through justice.
