I stayed in different in Thailand, from guest house to hotel, all of them cheaper than 3,000 thb (=about 100 USD). I also stayed in a place of 150 thb once… horrible!!
I came up with a criterion to find a good and cheap place to stay in the country.
Places using white bed sheet are clean.
I do not know why, but all the un-clean places seem to have non-white bed sheet.
In Mae Sot, North, the bed sheet of nice colours looked so dirty. I asked the owner of the guest house, which had no name (Just a billboard saying “Inside Guest house” at its entrance. 150 thb), to change the bed sheet. He changed them right away, with washed bed sheet full of halls. Of course I could not sleep peacefully in the night!!!!
I stayed in a horrible place lately in Koh Samet. This place also did not use white bed sheet.
It’s at Saengthien (candle lignt) beach, and the guest house is owned by Mr. Dang. I stayed in a “VIP” place of 1,500 thb (=about 50 USD), and I kept comparing the place of 150 thb in Mae Sot. Is it 10 times better than the Mae Sot place? NOT AT ALL.
