(Bangkok, Apr 2008 ) I’d rather see the person’s face…
Facebook. Another friend suggested me to join it last Friday. This is the fourth time someone tells me to.
The second time I was suggested to I visited the website, almost signed in. Then I did not, I guess I was caught up with other stuff and just closed the page. I guess I did the right thing, as now I see that “You can’t delete anything” and “Anyone can glance at your intimate confessions” at Facebook (The Guardian), besides all the issues of privacy (privacy.org).
Social Networking Service. It is worth, I know. I met my old friends of elementary school through Mixi, the biggest SNS in Japan.
But I left Mixi for a while. I got fed up of accepting people whom I’d rather reject. They were people I meet at work, and they think I am their friend, but I never felt so. Because it’s linked to my work, I could not reject them.
I might start to reconsider, if Facebook will be more multi-lingual. But it does not seem to happen yet. I miss friends I have not seen for ages, and they do not know English.
Globalisation. IT. The world becoming smaller. We hear all this everyday, but is it all nice, all good to us? I doubt it. For most of the technology is invented to make things easier for military.
