The Olympics are for…

Watch out! (Bangkok, Nov 07)

Olypics… known as the “festival for peace” here in Japan for some reason. Is it so? I thought it is the “festival for money and ads”?

Of course countries that have accessible equipments win. They’ve got money, enough to have all the military stuff and more. Then, why not developing more sports? A friend of mine said, “If there will be tree climbing, people of Oceania will defenitely win!” Why not tuctuc race? Why not swimming free style (meaning any style, literally free) in sea, lake or river? Why not skin diving? Why not a tug and a pull? Climbing bars?

I am tired to see all the typically winner countries win. I want others and so do most of people in the world.

business or frienship?

just chilling out… (Nagoya, May 2008 )

Friendship and business do not get along, at least for me. Although mixed very often, when the rule of “give and take” is lost, friendship just becomes another “kusare en” (=”rotten relationships,” meaning the ones you cannot be away from because of funny links).

There are people who think to be my friends, but who are not friends for me. There were many like that especially when I was working for a paper… Many came to me just to be my friends, in order to take advantage of me.

Some of my old friends became that kind of friends in the meantime, too. Now that I left the paper, one even asked me, “Don’t you plan to go back?” No way. I guess she did not get why I left there. I explained her why, but I have not felt she got what I meant.

With them I am not myself. I do not feel I am accepted, if not some connections with the paper.

I remember my English teacher at junior high school. She used to give me special classes. She said, “In these classes I am your friend, but not in classroom.” I guess she knew the rule. I wish I could say that clearly to my “friends,” anyway I have my right to be choosy and I will be so.

ID?

Bangkok, April 2008

Bangkok, April 2008

I hate to be defined by someone.

Every time I react, there are people say, “Oh, because your blood type is whatever”, “Oh, because you are more Thai than Japanese”, “Oh, because you have non-Japanese perspective”, “Oh, because you are foreigner”.

What is all this? Read the rest of this entry »

error?

Hiroshima, May 2008

Hiroshima, May 2008

Summer again. Summer. Here in Japan TV stations show dramas and documentaries of the WW2, as three memorial days in August (6th, 9th and 15th) come. (And for some reasons, the memorial day of Okinawa on 26th June has always been excluded)

”Let all the souls here rest in peace; for we shall not repeat the error,” says the monument in Hiroshima (Please see the pic). But what is the “error”? People who were making decisions knew it was not an error. They still think it was not.

Error for whom? Just for ordinary people? If it were really an error, they should admit it so. But for many “comfort women” issues and Nanjing massacre were no errors and they do not admit. So they won’t mind repeating them again.

When will the souls rest in peace? It’s August again, and the error is yet to be an error.
